Phineas Gage

Picture
Title: Phineas Gage
Author: John Fleischman
Genre: Non-fiction

In 1848, Phineas Gage, was in a railroad worker and got a horrible head injury. While working as a foreman with explosives, an explosion caused an accident that left a hole in his head.  Despite his horrible accident he made a “full recovery” and shared his story as he travel the world looking for jobs.  His story helped the world to find out how the brain works, and led to the discovery of parts of the brain.
The story Phineas Gage doesn’t have a theme, it has a question. Do you think Phineas was lucky or unlucky? I agree that he was lucky because the rod could have gone at a different angle and killed him. He was also lucky to live and tell his story to all who wanted to know.
The book Phineas Gage has its ups and downs. The main reason I liked it because it was unbelievable an adventurous.  Despite its awesome parts I didn’t like all the medical words and when it went on and on about the way people act.  If I was rating this book I would give it a 4/5 because it was good and bad. I would recommend this book to people who want to be doctors.
